Love the Sequels or hate them, you have to admit that the gravitas that Adam Driver brings to the portrayal of Kylo Ren is nothing short of incredible.

The way the character is the character is acted is brilliant. Driver carries this conflicted persona in the character in every single scene, an emotion that Driver sometimes lets snap out in his really emotional scenes (like when he’s asking Rey to join him, you can really tell that he wants her to join him.)One of my personal favorite scenes is the scene directly after Luke’s declaration that he’s not the Last Jedi. There’s a moment where Kylo is just standing there, tightly gripping his lightsaber as an ambient noise fills the scene, almost as if you can hear the blood boiling in him.Then he snarls, taking off at a brisk pace while screaming in anger, practically throwing himself at Luke. Driver plays that scene so well, it’s just incredible.Another thing, the way that Adam Driver carries the physicality of his body into the character is something to be admired. For instance, most lightsaber-wielders use their weapons as if they are weightless, using swift stabs and cuts.Kylo Ren’s style is different. He uses his lightsaber as if it carries the weight of a sword, he allows it to lead through large and heavy movements and kind of lets it drag him through his attacks. It helps show this unique brutality and anger to his fighting style we haven’t really seen before in Star Wars.Adam Driver’s performance in Episode XI is honestly one of the things I’m looking forward to the most because it stole the show in TLJ. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2Jn9ZLK
