In From A Certain Point of View, Claudia Gray nails why Obi-Wan is my favorite Star Wars character.

So, Claudia Gray's contribution to From A Certain Point of View is a story in which the ghost of Qui-Gon visits Obi-Wan on Tatooine just after Luke realizes the stormtroopers tracked the droids to his home. This part really stuck out to me:Sometimes, when Qui-Gon considers it, he is awed by his student's steadfastness. Every person Obi-Wan has truly loved - Anakin, Satine, Padme, and Qui-Gon himself - came to a terrible end. Three of them died before his eyes; the other fell to a fate so bleak that death would have been a gift. The Jedi Order that provided the entire framework for Obi-Wan's life was consumed by betrayal and slaughter. Every step of this long, unfulfilling journey is one Obi-Wan had to take alone... and yet he never faltered. As the galaxy burned, his path remained true. It is the kind of victory that most people never recognize and yet the bedrock all goodness is built upon. Even Obi-Wan doesn't see it.I love it. To me, Obi-Wan has always been the strongest character in Star Wars. Not in terms of the Force, or physical strength, but in terms of emotional strength and the strength of will. That's a kind of strength that is much harder to achieve.I know that I'll never be in a situation as dire and hopeless as Obi-Wan (God willing), but reading that was inspiring to me. I wish and hope that I could have that kind of steadfastness as life throws its challenges my way.Sorry if these seems overly sentimental, but I just needed to share this with someone. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2fUl3Gi
