Would redeeming Kylo Ren be a rehash of the Vader arc?

He started out on the light side of the Force. Then he was seduced by the dark side, killed a bunch of Jedi students, and now is a high-ranking enforcer within the new evil regime. His master once considered him the Chosen One, but now he feels like a failure and has gone into exile. It's almost beat-for-beat the same arc as Vader. With that said, is there ANY way they can "redeem" him without making it feel like a rehash? Maybe if he survives the ST and decides to devote his life to helping restore the Jedi Order (as Luke had originally hoped he would do). Or if he himself goes into exile to "atone" for his sins (leaving it open for him to return in a future installment). But if he's redeemed and then subsequently dies, it's going to feel like a straight-up rehash (IMO). In an ideal world, he'd become the ultimate dark side master before being finished off by Rey. That would differentiate him from Vader. He'd have "succeeded" where Vader "failed" (by resisting the light side, killing his master, and seizing ultimate power for himself). via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2xqsqZa
