The Prequels Made Me A Star Wars Fan

I'm sure posts come up on here often about liking the Prequels/ they aren't as bad as everyone says. However, I rarely see opinions from my age group (18) in regards to the Prequels. As a younger kid I saw the OT first, then Phantom Menace. I saw Attack of the Clones and it totally made me crazy about the universe. I had so many toys from that movie including the creatures from the Geonosian arena, the Coruscant speeders that Zam and Obi-Wan/ Anakin pilot. And then RotS came out. I had seen the Clone Wars cartoon segments, owned Anakin's starfighter and of course a few LEGO Star Wars sets. My 7 year old self was so ready for this. And boy was my 7 year old self so satisfied. Hearing people clap and cheer when Vader's mask is put on and he breathes his first robotic breath, seeing Padme name Luke, and watching Obi-Wan take him to Tatooine. It was all so amazing.Years later I saw the Clone Wars animated movie in theaters, watched the series premiere and finale on their original air dates, binged the Lost Missions in a day, was almost moved to tears when Han heard Finn say "Luke Skywalker", and was actually moved to tears when the great Carrie Fisher passed. Now, as a film major in college (wish me luck), I've rewatched both trilogies multiple times over and yes, I do enjoy the OT more than the Prequels. But the basis of my fandom was all because of what the Prequels did for me as a kid, which is why I get so peeved when people say that the Prequels "ruined their childhood".Well, what ruined your childhood, actually built mine.Tl;dr the Prequels is what really captured my attention as a kid and turned me into the huge fan I am today. My intention with this post is to spark conversation from similar or completely different perspectives from mine. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2izd7u5
