Why did jj Abrams kill off the new jedi order in the force awakens?

I truly find this decision bad both from a worldbuild and story point of view.Honestly,i can't think of an other reason except "have the jedi extinct like it was in the original trilogy" via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/MnTlPxa
