Darth Vader Became Anakin Skywalker the Moment He Learned Luke Lived

Imagine you are the Dark Lord of the Sith. For close to twenty years you have been alone, residing within an armored life support shell and in constant pain with nothing but your duty as the Emperors fist to live for. For twenty years, with nothing of your previous life remaining. No mother, no father, no friends, no loved ones, no wife and no children. No Jedi remain after you hunted them all to extinction and the republic reshaped into the Empire. The Emperor is not a friend but a master that demands only success that you must always provide. Failure and weakness will never be tolerated by him and you must keep your emotions and thoughts to yourself. To make matters worse, you have become who you are out of love and a desire to protect the woman that mattered most to you.You failed completely and utterly. After you betrayed and destroyed the Jedi and helped take the Republic for Palpatine you were beaten and maimed and all but dead by the time help came. The pain and agony from the fight left you burnt and deformed and only a shade of what you once were. Your own appearance is twisted and hideous and only visible inside your medical chamber. You are truly isolated from everything. You cannot feel or sense anything within the confines of your suit and the pain is continuous along with that hissing respirator. What is worse is that your wife and her unborn child had died, by your own hand, out of anger and your best friend and brother gone forever. You have spent all that time since she went away reshaping the galaxy, tearing apart what she wished to protect, perhaps because the sight of it merely caused you more pain seeing all that peace and knowing she would never be with you to enjoy it.And then the battle of Yavin occurs. The death star is destroyed and you are beaten by a skilled pilot strong in the force. After much searching you find out the truth. You have a son. You have a child, from the woman you valued most in the galaxy and who you sacrificed so much for and now you learn you have a son.You move the galaxy spanning imperial navy to search for him. You dispatch probe droids and use the resources of a galaxy to find him. You refuse to let nothing stop you until he is found. He is a part of what you once had and a reminder that you were not always the way you were. If he can join you, you will reclaim a part of your life you had thought truly dead and gone. If you can turn him to the dark side, you can show that you were justified in your support of the Empire and show that you did not fail as utterly as your own nightmares suggest. If you can reclaim a part of your family, all your suffering would be worth it, just to see a fragment of your former life again. You ignore that one feeling, deep within. You focus on your mission and neglect that one feeling that wont diminish despite your pain. You bury it deep within and focus, not letting it in but not able to suppress it despite your focus. You found out your son is alive, and nothing will stop you from finding him. http://ift.tt/1XEvRnL(absolutely amazing scene from the comics. Always ignored Vader as a character till ROTS) via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2kMutBd
