On July 2nd 2022 me and my wife had our long awaited Star Wars wedding. We’re so incredibly happy for how it turned out, so I felt a strong urge to write about it all and share it - because it truly was an experience out of this world (somewhere in a galaxy far far away). I saw someone already posted about it earlier in this thread so I guess this is a follow up with more pictures and details.Link to videosLink to photo albumShort version:Star Wars and cosplay were basically the two main reasons for us meeting online in 2016. In 2019 we went to Star Wars Celebration Chicago where my wife proposed while we cosplayed Kylo and Rey, so the theme of our wedding was pretty obvious from the start. Due to covid we had to postpone, but in the end that gave us enough time to properly plan and save up enough money for it.Here’s a breakdown of the day, focusing on Star Wars details:The dress code was Star Wars, in any level of ambition. It was beautiful seeing 135 guests where the majority had put a lot of thought into their attire.Me and my wife are in the 501st / Rebel Legion, so a couple of our friends joined in full costume for the ceremony and photos. We hired two musicians (violin and cello) to play Star Wars songs while guests arrived and during the ceremony. They actually had another wedding booked later that day, but squeezed us in because they were so excited. The bridal party consisted of the mandalorian pastor, the Grogu bearer (Grogu held the rings, and my wife’s cousin carried Grogu), troopers from Swedish Garrison plus the bridesmaids and grooms - each with a lightsaber. There was a mandalorian sub-theme: Our attires were inspired by Din Djarin and Bo Katan. The pastor was in a full heavy mandalorian costume. We entered to the musicians playing the theme from The Mandalorian. During the ceremony the pastor gave my wife a darksaber, and we walked out to the theme from The Book of Boba Fett performed live by a choir of guests and the two hired musicians.During the party guests were addressed as inhabitants since their table was named after a planet. We printed 160 ships to decorate the tables, along with LED-strips and my wife hand wrote all the name cards (including a unique Star Wars quote for each guest). The venue’s lighting was dimmed, and lit by pillars along the walls, inspired by lightsabers. After the ceremony we took some photos, and when we got back we entered through a lightsaber tunnel. The cakes were actually basic and quite cheap, so we 3D-printed AT-ATs and Stardestroyers, as well as a droid cake topper to make up for it. Guests were encouraged to steal the decorations, and they did so happily, lol.To make room for a dance floor we had to break up / blow up the table Alderaan. The lightsabers from the bridal party lit up the dance floor like a 90’s rave party while guests did everything from lightsaber fights, conga lines and partying hard. Here's a 3.30 min video compilation of the day:I uploaded some more videos from the day on this playlist (YouTube). Unfortunately we didn't ask the videographer to record as much as we'd like, so the other videos are recorded by guests and edited together by me. I've also put the long version in a separate Drive document (couldn't figure out if Reddit allowed drop down boxes). I'll link to it here, if you feel like reading more: Long version.I’m incredibly thankful to all our friends and family who helped us and supported the wedding in every way. Not only through the practical things like furnishing, bringing out food etc but also the incredible enthusiasm for the Star Wars theme. Even though me and my wife put in so many hours planning and preparing we couldn’t have made it without all the help we got, and in the end that’s what made the whole day so special: That so many went above and beyond to help us create the best day of our lives.Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it and may the Force be with you! via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/69yVoYQ
