Something I Noticed About The Force Awakens Plot and Return of the Jedi

Spoiler ahoy.TFA uses the abandoned plots and ideas from the Return of the Jedi.A lot of people have been arguing over TFA recycling plot ideas from ANH. Personally I love TFA, even if I recognise the similarities, but that ISNT what I want to discuss. Instead I want to talk about how it uses the scrapped ideas that were originally planned in RotJ.For those who don't know, initially the end to RotJ was going to be very different and much more bitter sweet. Han Solo was going to die early on, causing Leia to have to lead the new, struggling, Republic on her own. After defeating Vader, Luke was going to venture forth on his own in search of his lost sister, mirroring the spaghetti westerns that inspired Lucas. Furthermore, there were even plans for Luke to tap into the dark side, take Vaders helmet and claim: I am Vader. The final journey would then be followed in 789. Of course after the fall out with his partner, Lucas scrapped the ideas and went for a happier ending, and a more final end to the trilogy. RotJ became what it is now. However, the ideas weren't fully abandoned. Lets see what happens in TFA. Han Solo dies? Check. Leia is left on her own to lead a wartorn republic? Check. Luke disappears on his own like a spaghetti western? Check. Leia searches for her brother, and Rey searches for her long lost family? Check. Kylo Ren takes vaders helmet and emulates him as he turns to the dark side, and kills his father? Check. This may all be coincidences, but it is uncanny just how many of those ideas for the ending of RotJ were woven into TFA. Furthermore, we are now at the same place in the story that was originally intended after RotJ. JJ Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan and Kathleen Kennedy gave TFA the ending and story that was intended for RotJ.My apologies if this has been discussed before, but I wanted to share my thoughts. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2maiI8q
