In legends, if I remember correctly, red kyber crystals were usually manufactured, although I remember in kotor that they could be naturally found (I guess this got retconned)In the current canon, red Kyber Crystals can only be produced by the process of bleeding, where a dark side user basically infuses the crystal with all of his hate and anger, to the point of it turning red.Personally I like the idea of bleeding Crystals, as it’s more in line with the Siths philosophy.
